Ann Arbor, Mich. — Dec. 12, 2014 — Parros College Planning, an Ann Arbor, Mich.-based company that provides resources to parents and prospective college students in the college admissions process, is now offering mock video interviews to help college bound students prepare for formal and informal admission interviews. Timothy C. Parros, founder of Parros College Planning, says the videos aid students in polishing their interview skills.
“Many folks believe college admission offices are moving away from in-person interviews as part of the admissions process,” Parros said. “However, some schools in Michigan and nationwide still use student interviews in their decision making process.”
The mock interview is staged in the Parros College Planning office and can take up to one hour, depending on the school(s) the student is considering. Students are asked a variety of questions and, after the interview is complete, are given immediate feedback from the professional interviewer. The video, with the feedback, is then emailed to the student for additional preparation
“The ability for the student to receive immediate feedback and ask questions on the spot is imperative to improving one’s interviewing skills,” Parros said. “This review also allows for more in-depth conversations, where our experts can find the traits that make each student unique and help develop talking points so the student’s personality can shine in the actual campus interview.”
According to Parros, some campus interviews are informal, but still hold weight in a college’s decision making process.
“When a prospective student meets with an admissions officer or member of the faculty during an on campus visit, a de-facto interview is actually taking place,” Parros said. “When a student presents well on campus during these informal meetings or information gathering sessions, the college is going to make note of it.”
Mock video interviews are available for high school students graduating in spring 2015. To schedule an interview or to learn more about Parros College Planning, contact Kim Parros at 888.590.3668 or info@parroscollegeplanning.com.
